SHABIK — Tariffs, Pre-Authorisation, Billing & Refunds
SHABIK — CATEC's public EV-charging network — official guide
Tariffs & fees
| Item | SHABIK value |
|---|
| DC tariff (CCS2 fast charging) | AED 1.26 / kWh incl. VAT |
| AC tariff (Type 2) | AED 0.74 / kWh incl. VAT |
| Minimum session charge | AED 5.00 |
| Billing basis | Energy delivered (kWh), not time |
| Overstay fee | AED 2.00 / minute after a 10-minute grace once the session ends |
| Bank statement shows | "SHABIK ELECTRIC VEHICLES ABU DHABI 784" (card-verification payee: SHABIK ELECTRIC VEHICLES CHARGING LLC) |
| Cashback | None — cashback is a BARQ-network feature only. Any active vouchers appear under Menu → Coupons |
Pre-authorisation holds
| Charger type | Pre-auth hold |
|---|
| DC (fast) | AED 100 (AED 50 or AED 20 at some stations); wallet minimum AED 20 |
| AC | AED 30 or AED 20 (by station) |
The pre-auth is a temporary hold to verify your card — not a charge. Only the actual charging amount is captured; your bank releases the remainder after reconciliation, usually within up to 14 business days. Held longer than 14 business days? Contact support with the card's last 4 digits, session date/time, amount and station — our payments team will trace it.
Refunds
- Standard refunds go to the original payment method within 3–5 business days; an AED 10 processing fee applies — waived when the fault is ours.
- Charger-malfunction refunds: request within 7 days of the session.
- Failed/incomplete sessions may be credited to your wallet.
- The minimum wallet balance is non-refundable; a card cannot be removed while a balance is outstanding.
Why did AED 5 leave my account for a failed session? If the wallet drops below AED 20 at handshake or the cable is not fully seated, the session can stop after seconds and the AED 5 minimum applies once initiated — top up to at least AED 20, seat the cable firmly, and retry; repeated AED 5 charges are credited back on request.
